Picks - Week 16

This is the last week you have to indulge Max/Phred and the picks.  I don’t know what method they are employing, but perhaps they should get some new darts because they have never had a losing season.  Ed.

DALLAS @ CAROLINA -11

On the advice of T.O., Tony Romo has dumped Jessica Simpson and is currently dating Margaret Thatcher.  She will be at the game, but Maggie is expected to intimidate the PANTHERS more than the COWBOYS.  This game is critical to DALLAS if they are to remain ahead of the Pack in the race for home field through out.  We don’t know ‘whom’ will call signals for CAROLINA, but two things are for sure; it won’t be, as rumored, George Blanda and, sadly, John Fox has coached his next to last PANTHERS game.  Bring on Bill Cower.

PICK:   BOYS.

HOUSTON @ INDIANAPOLIS -6.5

The COLTS still remember what happened last time they rested the starters going into the playoffs.  Dungy’s momma didn’t raise no dummies, so expect most of the first string to get plenty of work other than the injuries.  Only Addai should be somewhat limited for the sake of keeping the legs fresh.  The TEXANS Sage Rosenfels had a nice day at home against Denver, but this week he faces, in my opinion, the #1 defense and will come back to terra firma.

PICK:   INDY cruises to the ‘W’ in the dome.

NEW YORK GIANTS @ BUFFALO +2.5

The GIANTS get to go to BUFFALO, NEW YORK in the winter, whoopee!  The GMEN need this game in the worse way because a win in the next two puts them in, but the prospect of facing the Pats who are likely going for perfection week 17 is not attractive.  Ergo if they don’t beat the BILLS they likely will miss the chance to go one and done in post season.  Eli stinks, his receivers can’t catch (did you see the Toomer drop Sunday?) so naturally I’m picking them yet again.

PICK:  GIANTS.  Bills are out, by the way.

PHILADELPHIA @ NEW ORLEANS -3.5

The Jessica Simpson ploy worked in Dallas, but this week the EAGLES will just have to play.  Though they have nothing but the ole pride to play for, expect Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb on down to go hard after all the ‘W’s’ left.  The SAINTS are still in it (Phred’s super bowl pick, brahahahaha), but PHILLY is at this point better and Westbrook and the defense will be the difference.

PICK:  The BROTHERLY LOVERS to upset.

ATLANTA @ ARIZONA -10

Two teams who have zip going as far as post season, but expect the FALCONS and CARDS to play as if they did.  Kurt Warner will continue making a case to be the starter in ’08, and ATLANTA, with all the distractions, will be out to prove that they are still a professional football team.  It’s hard to see though, with Fitz and Boldin back and the FALCONS’ makeshift offense, how ARIZONA doesn’t prevail by more than 10 at home.

PICK:   ZONA.

NEW YORK JETS @ TENNESSEE -9

The TITANS are still alive, but probably need help.  The JETS are dead, but they should have Clemens available.  The only thing that saves the NEW YORKERS in this one is that it will be a low scoring affair.  TENNESSEE’S ‘D’ will hold the JETS to 17 or so while putting up 24 max of their own.  I’ll be torn between tuning in to this one or celebrity eating.

PICK:   JETS to cover.

Luck and Merry Christmas,

Max
